Friday evening, November 6, 2009 The Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual Oyster Roast.  Previous years have seen the roast take on the form of a block party, but this year Amanda and Bill invited the party into their newly expanded and beautiful space, The Garden Shop by Gardens, Inc. on Commerce St. in the heart of Apalachicola's Historic Bowery District.  The setting was beautiful, turned from a nice shop into a magical environment by many volunteers working all day before the party began just at dusk.  Joe Hutchison provided the entertainment, helped along by an able group of backup musicians.  Salad was dressed, oysters were shucked and roasted, oyster stew was ladled, crabs were boiled, shrimp were peeled, cakes were cut and a bit later fire pits were stoked to ward off any chill...all in all a beautiful night under the stars.
